we are the bride of Christ so this applies to all of us.

Proverbs 31:30 (The Message)

Hymn to a Good Wife

10-31 A good woman is hard to find,
and worth far more than diamonds.
Her husband trusts her without reserve,
and never has reason to regret it.
Never spiteful, she treats him generously
all her life long.
She shops around for the best yarns and cottons,
and enjoys knitting and sewing.
She’s like a trading ship that sails to faraway places
and brings back exotic surprises.
She’s up before dawn, preparing breakfast
for her family and organizing her day.
She looks over a field and buys it,
then, with money she’s put aside, plants a garden.
First thing in the morning, she dresses for work,
rolls up her sleeves, eager to get started.
She senses the worth of her work,
is in no hurry to call it quits for the day.
She’s skilled in the crafts of home and hearth,
diligent in homemaking.
She’s quick to assist anyone in need,
reaches out to help the poor.
She doesn’t worry about her family when it snows;
their winter clothes are all mended and ready to wear.
She makes her own clothing,
and dresses in colorful linens and silks.
Her husband is greatly respected
when he deliberates with the city fathers.
She designs gowns and sells them,
brings the sweaters she knits to the dress shops.
Her clothes are well-made and elegant,
and she always faces tomorrow with a smile.
When she speaks she has something worthwhile to say,
and she always says it kindly.
She keeps an eye on everyone in her household,
and keeps them all busy and productive.
Her children respect and bless her;
her husband joins in with words of praise:
“Many women have done wonderful things,
but you’ve outclassed them all!”
Charm can mislead and beauty soon fades.
The woman to be admired and praised
is the woman who lives in the Fear-of-God.
Give her everything she deserves!
Festoon her life with praises!

  1. WOW! I had read this a long time ago, but had forgotten about it. Thanks so much for posting! My ex-wife was nothing like this, actually completely opposite. But I do pray for her salvation. Anyway I met a wonderful woman in person two weekends ago with whom I had been talking to on Catholicmatch.com for two weeks before that (we did talk on the phone for a week as well), whom seemed to have all these or almost all these traits mentioned in this scripture. But after three great dates and what seemed like a great connection, her seeming really into me, her ex asked for another chance, and NOW will consider marrying her when he didn’t want to before after 5 years. She explained it on great terms, positively with great compliments toward me which felt great. She did say she really liked me, that I was a really great guy, and apologized three times, will pray I find that great woman to be by my side, and offers a beautiful friendship. I do want her to be happy. But yes, women like that are really hard to find. This is also the second amazing woman originally from Mexico whom God placed in my presence but for some reason was taken away, having nothing to do with me. I’m wondering if I should try calling her soon to say hi and send her the birthday presents or one of them I had planned on giving her next weekend before hearing the news. I do desire to use Spanish in my home as I am Hispanic myself who does speak Spanish but from Albuquerque. I am lonely but I won’t settle anymore like I did with my ex-wife. So anyone reading this, if you pray that I find that virtuous woman, someone like this woman Rosie if not her herself, soon, I would be grateful and pray for your intentions as well. God said it is not good for man to be alone. Put this scripture with that one and stand on them, nothing is impossible. Thanks and God bless to you all.
