Before going into the land of promise the children of Israel heard the report of Giants (big troubles) in the land. Looking at the troubles as insurmountable obstacles was likened to “rebelling” against God. Instead of being obstacles they were put in the context of being food for the children of Israel.
Numbers 14:9 King James Bible
Only rebel not ye against the LORD, neither fear ye the people of the land; for they are bread for us: their defense is departed from them, and the LORD is with us: fear them not.
Your troubles will become bread for you
The point is that the troubles we faced in life should be viewed as our food. They will become spiritual nourishment for us. Your troubles have no defense against God. In overcoming our troubles through trusting Christ we will be doing the will of God. It is our trusting God to overcome them that does it. Its not our power or ability.
2 Corinthians 12:9 New Living Translation (©2007)
Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.
Doing this “will of God” will become our dinner table. Our food.
Psalm 23:5 King James Bible
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Here it links the table to partaking in the anointing of Christ.
Jesus said this about doing the will of God
John 4:34 King James Bible
Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.
john 4:32 King James Bible
But he said unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not of.
