What does the bible say about 2012? How long is a biblical generation? How does that fit in to 2012 prophecies?
Something I recently heard pegs a biblical generation it at 52.42 years as defined by the bible itself. This is important because Jesus said a generation would not pass from the time when Israel “Budded” until he came back again. Israel was scattered all over the world and regathered again just as prophecy said. In 1967 Israel took Jerusalem in the 6 day war. Could this be the possible “budding” described by Jesus. The math is interesting once you know the length of a biblical generation.
Everyone knows you should not set a day or the hour for Jesus return, however it says
we would know and are expected to know
the general time he was “at the door”.
If you take 1967 and add the 52 years you come to 2019. If you take out the 7 year tribulation (time of jacobs trouble, daniels 70th week) it comes to Dec 2012. If this math is correct you could expect Jesus return anytime from 1967 to Dec 2012. Something interesting to consider.
Now this does not set a exact date for his return. Its important to note that. Jesus did say “the budding of the fig tree” Was a starting point. A generation would not pass from that time until he returned and the end time events that he had just spoken of occurred. The events could come anytime within that time period. No exact date setting. However if Jesus mentioned a time span and a sign that started that time span don’t you think that he wanted us to know approximately when these things would happen? If not why say it? Jesus was angry at the pharisees for not knowing the signs of the times. He called them hypocrites.
Matthew 16:3 And in the morning, [It will be] foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowring. O [ye] hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not [discern] the signs of the times?
We are supposed to know what times we are in.
1 Thessalonians 5:4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.
Its important to know about he time of his return because it has a purifying action on us. We are warned not to ignore what time we are in.
Luke 21:34 “Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down with dissipation, drunkenness and the anxieties of life, and that day will close on you unexpectedly like a trap.
So ANYTIME from the sign until the end of a generation Jesus could come. So no date setting here but understanding the general time period of the possible return Jesus intended us to know about.
So heres how we figure what a biblical generation is based on bible info alone.
The math about what a generation is goes like this
1. Matthew 1:17 “Thus there were fourteen generations in all from Abraham to David, fourteen from David to the exile to Babylon, and fourteen from the exile to the Christ.” Because of the written genealogy in the bible and the years listed we know that from Abram to Christ is 2160 years
2. If you divide this by the 42 generations (mentioned in Matt 1:17), it is 52 years (51.42)
3. added to 1967 (Jews take Jerusalem, possible budding of the fig tree) 1967+52= 2019
4. and minus 7 (The great tribulation or Daniels 70th week)= 2012 around Dec 21
This coincides with the 12-21-2012 prophicies of the mayan also the hopi indian 12-21-2012 prophecy of the end of the age. There are a many others as well. (Just Google 12-21-2012) Since I believe the bible is the only sure place for prophecy it’s interesting to see that the date mentioned in so many prophecies worldwide has a possible biblical tie in.
Is this accurate? Well this definition of a generations length is figured by biblical values alone. This makes the amount of time validated as far as I am concerned. However the exact date of the “budding of the fig tree” as mentioned in Jesus prophecies has varied depending upon what event you believe that to be. I have not heard of definitive proof biblically about the starting of that time. However the taking of Jerusalem seems like a good choice. When we choose that time and do the math it coincides with the many dec 21 2012 prophecies of other religions. That seems interesting to me.
This information is valuable because it can give the general idea of what time we are in. This actually has a purifying effect as mentioned in 1 John 3:3 And every man that has this hope in him purifies himself, even as he is pure. WE are expected to know where we are om light of what the bible says. Peter calls prophecy a light in a dark place that we would do well to pay attention to.
2 Peter 1:19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
Of you keep paying attention to prophecy a light will go off in your heart at some point. It will change you whole world and its something we “do well” to do. If the God inspired, holy spirit breathed word of God says we would “do well” to take heed to then it must be a very good and worthwhile thing to do.
The world is being prepared for the acceptance of the anti-christ. Right after Jesus takes away the church there will be what the bible calls “a strong delusion”. This delusion is a judgement of God on those who refused his spirits calling. (the spirit of truth is here now, the “restrainer” speaking and earnestly trying to show them their error)
2 Thessalonians 2:7 For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only he who now restrains will do so until he is taken out of the way.
The delusion might be the doctrine of the maitreya, the “Christ spirit”. It teaches that “the Christ spirit” has shown up in the world from time to time in various leaders. This doctrine says Buddha was a Christ, Jesus was a “Christ”, Muhammad, was a Christ. It will present the new “Christ” which will be what the bible calls the “anti-Christ”. Because of this delusion he will be widely accepted. There is a way out, trusting in Jesus is the way out. However the world is being groomed for the anti-Christ now. The explanation for millions of missing people that leave in the rapture might go along the lines of extraterrestrials to a massive jump in human consciousness. The jump in human consciousness explains that those that opposed the new age of enlightenment will be “taken out of the way”.
They are preparing for the removal of the real Christ and the substitution of their counterfeit.
2 Thessalonians 2:10-13 (King James Version)
10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because
they received not the love of the truth
that they might be saved.
11 And for this cause God shall send them
strong delusion
that they should believe a lie:
12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
13 But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:
King James Version (KJV)
Find the truth, reach out to God by trusting him you won’t be disappointed.
Jeremiah 29:12-14 (King James Version)
12 Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.
13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.
14 And I will be found of you, saith the LORD: and I will turn away your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places whither I have driven you, saith the LORD; and I will bring you again into the place whence I caused you to be carried away captive.

very interesting… but still “no man knoweth the hour”
Yep but Jesus got mad at the pharisees for not reading the signs of the times. We should know his coming is close by the signs , however we dont know the day or the hour. We should know what season were in. Jesus wants us to know since he answered with what the signs were.
Many Christians, myself included, believe that when Jesus said, “no man knoweth the day or the hour”, he was referring to the Feast of Trumpets, commonly referred to as Rosh Hashanah. Rosh Hashanah is a feast that occurs in the fall and is known as the hidden feast because, “no one knew the day or the hour” of the feast. In ancient times two witnesses had to confirm that the new moon had started before the feast began. Remember Jesus was a Jew speaking to a Jewish audience. Also, using a Jewish calendar, the 52 years minus the 7 for the tribulation would bring us to September, 2011 (the month of Rosh Hashanah). You are right that we don’t know the hour of HIS return, but we need to be ready with our lamps full of oil so that we aren’t locked out of the wedding feast with the foolish virgins. We are to look and watch for the coming of the LORD, knowing the time (season) of his coming.
Hallelujah!! It is good to realize more people are coming into the knowledge of the signifigance of The Feast of Rosh Hashanah (Trumpets). The “times” and “seasons” is “harvest time” and the season is “Fall” or the “latter rain”. Rosh Hashanah is also the beginning of a new year. The rapture for the Church will be the beginning of a new year and a new life for Christians in heaven! This year, Rosh Hashanah falls on September 16th, 2012. If a generation is 51.42 years, it just might be the year 2012, but if not, it will be soon! Remember that the Feast of Trumpets is a two day Feast, so “no man knows” on which day Messiah will come. KEEP LOOKING UP!!!
Remember Jesus said: I am the way the truth and the light. No one goes unto the father except through me.
“However the world is being groomed for the anti-Christ now. The explanation for millions of missing people that leave in the rapture might go along the lines of extraterrestrials to a massive jump in human consciousness.”…Very powerful statement
I am reading Anne Graham Lotz book ” Expecting to See Jesus”. She also agrees we are in the “generation” to watch and see the signs. With the leadership of this nation it really makes you THINK.
why is it that there are many biblical scholars with the same word of God that have different views of the timing of rapture.(pre, mid, post). remember, all love Jesus but have different views of rapture and have the dame bible.

Some people take a scripture out of context and build a doctrine around it. Scripture confirms scripture. The Old is confirmed in the New, and the New the Old. The End in revealed in the beginning, and prophecy is revealed in the Feasts of the Lord. Some of those well-known scholars do not know or understand the symbolism provided in the Festivals, because some of those scholars subscribe to “Replacement Theology”, but that is a whole other discussion. Pay attention to the Feasts and you will see prophecy revealed and how the Jewish wedding proposal plays an important part in the rapture scenario.
If you are going to do the math ( using the Hebrew generation ) you might want to use the Hebrew calendar. You will find our calender is not even close! We are currently in year 5773, and this particular year only has 353 days. Oh My! Now that throws a kink in your calculations! Read below-
The Jewish calendar is based on three astronomical phenomena: the rotation of the Earth about its axis (a day); the revolution of the moon about the Earth (a month); and the revolution of the Earth about the sun (a year). These three phenomena are independent of each other, so there is no direct correlation between them. On average, the moon revolves around the Earth in about 29½ days. The Earth revolves around the sun in about 365¼ days, that is, about 12.4 lunar months.
The civil calendar used by most of the world has abandoned any correlation between the moon cycles and the month, arbitrarily setting the length of months to 28, 30 or 31 days.
The Jewish calendar, however, coordinates all three of these astronomical phenomena. Months are either 29 or 30 days, corresponding to the 29½-day lunar cycle. Years are either 12 or 13 months, corresponding to the 12.4 month solar cycle.
The lunar month on the Jewish calendar begins when the first sliver of moon becomes visible after the dark of the moon. In ancient times, the new months used to be determined by observation. When people observed the new moon, they would notify the Sanhedrin. When the Sanhedrin heard testimony from two independent, reliable eyewitnesses that the new moon occurred on a certain date, they would declare the rosh chodesh (first of the month) and send out messengers to tell people when the month began.
The problem with strictly lunar calendars is that there are approximately 12.4 lunar months in every solar year, so a 12-month lunar calendar is about 11 days shorter than a solar year and a 13-month lunar is about 19 longer than a solar year. The months drift around the seasons on such a calendar: on a 12-month lunar calendar, the month of Nissan, which is supposed to occur in the Spring, would occur 11 days earlier in the season each year, eventually occurring in the Winter, the Fall, the Summer, and then the Spring again. On a 13-month lunar calendar, the same thing would happen in the other direction, and faster.
To compensate for this drift, the Jewish calendar uses a 12-month lunar calendar with an extra month occasionally added. The month of Nissan occurs 11 days earlier each year for two or three years, and then jumps forward 30 days, balancing out the drift. In ancient times, this month was added by observation: the Sanhedrin observed the conditions of the weather, the crops and the livestock, and if these were not sufficiently advanced to be considered “spring,” then the Sanhedrin inserted an additional month into the calendar to make sure that Pesach (Passover) would occur in the spring (it is, after all, referred to in the Torah as Chag he-Aviv, the Festival of Spring!).
A year with 13 months is referred to in Hebrew as Shanah Me’uberet (pronounced shah-NAH meh-oo-BEH-reht), literally: a pregnant year. In English, we commonly call it a leap year. The additional month is known as Adar I, Adar Rishon (first Adar) or Adar Alef (the Hebrew letter Alef being the numeral “1″ in Hebrew). The extra month is inserted before the regular month of Adar (known in such years as Adar II, Adar Sheini or Adar Beit). Note that Adar II is the “real” Adar, the one in which Purim is celebrated, the one in which yahrzeits for Adar are observed, the one in which a 13-year-old born in Adar becomes a Bar Mitzvah. Adar I is the “extra” Adar.
In the fourth century, Hillel II established a fixed calendar based on mathematical and astronomical calculations. This calendar, still in use, standardized the length of months and the addition of months over the course of a 19 year cycle, so that the lunar calendar realigns with the solar years. Adar I is added in the 3rd, 6th, 8th, 11th, 14th, 17th and 19th years of the cycle. The current cycle began in Jewish year 5758 (the year that began October 2, 1997). If you are musically inclined, you may find it helpful to remember this pattern of leap years by reference to the major scale: for each whole step there are two regular years and a leap year; for each half-step there is one regular year and a leap year. This is easier to understand when you examine the keyboard illustration below and see how it relates to the leap years above.
